Notting Hill Carnival – Work has Begun

For almost 20 years, we’ve been producing banners for the Mas bands that perform at Notting Hill Carnival during the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Mas bands are Caribbean Island groups that play live music on decorated lorries which are followed by people in brightly coloured costumes parading, dancing, and encouraging others to join in. The term Mas comes from “masquerade,” a traditional Caribbean form of storytelling.

Due to the length of our relationship with the Carnival, we’ve gained more and more Mas band customers over the years, including the Dominica United Kingdom Association (DUKA). This year we hope to be making banners for up to 50 bands and their sponsors.

Despite this year’s early start, we know we’ll be working right up to the wire to deliver all the banners in time for the Mas bands to perform at Notting Hill Carnival, often working on some very late orders which we always manage to deliver in time!
